| Bio: | ![]() Gaultier Baptiste age 51 English Gaultier's mother was a British Countess with a vast amount of land and wealth in the Dover area. Mary Alston was sent to France for additional schooling and while there, she met and fell in love with Hilaire Baptiste, a penniless former Duke, wrecked by a scandalous marriage. Though the match was ill advised (most assumed Baptiste was taking advantage of Mary's wealth) they were in fact quite happy with eachother. Mary's father allowed the marriage on the condition that Hilaire would find a place at the English court and attempt to make a fortune of his own, instead of relying on Mary's inheritance. Hilaire did just that, he rocketed through the ranks and earned a titled and land for himself, soon Mary Alston was not longer married to a nobody, she was married to a Marquis. Mary's parents died and the estate passed into the Marquis' name, and with a new home came their first son, Gaultier. Mary was already nearly 37 at the time of his birth, and by his ninth birthday, she was dead after seven miscarriages. The Marquise accepted this as a fact and dwelt little on his wife's death, something that left a profound impression on young Gaultier. He was schooled by the best of tutors, and found a passion in the law books. While the elder Baptiste remained the Marquis, Gaultier followed his law dream and became a member of Parliament by the age of twenty. He approached life with the idea that no matter how much you value things, they'll eventually disappear. He lived with both sensibility and excess. He inheirited the title of Marquis and the lands that came with it. He remained a member of Parliament. When he was 30, he married his first wife, Helena Porter. Helena died in childbirth, and their daughter was stillborn. He focused entirely on his politics and soon became a member of the House of Lords, the upper house of Parliament. Gaultier's second marriage, this time to popular actress Mariah Denney, ended when she left him for an Italian actor. By this time, Gaultier was nearly 50, and he wanted a young wife who could cause him happiness or entertainment in the later years of his life. Miss Katherine Rochester came into play when her mother offered her hand in marriage to Gaultier. They have not married yet, due to Katherine's attachment to her brother (or so she says) and Gaultier, being a generous man, is ready (to a point) to wait until she is ready. He is loathe to have another dissatisfied wife on in his hands. | |||||||||
